A project working with the 2014 GM concepts. My segment focused on the HVAC; Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning.

I was working towards a design which would use cockpit lines to intuitively wrap the user and create an interaction which was fluid and very understandable as to it's outcome; without the need for graphics. I wanted the driver to be able to focus 100% of their vision on the road and to feel the interaction with the HVAC.
When one strokes their fingers across the fan speed setting a series of lengthening bars denotes the relative fan speed. The hot and cold setting is natural as heat rises and cold air falls. The entire range of settings can be accomplished in one sweep of the shoulder, without the need for any visual rechecking as to whether you just set the clock as opposed to the heated seats.

Speaking of heated seats, the seat controls continue along the cockpit lines, adjacent to the seat itself; where a similar linear potentiometer relates the seat heating output to the users input.
